Now you can play the guessing game and see if you can put a name to a face! I really like to give out challenges. As you can see we all had fun and actually got some knitting done.

I finally got the shop moved to a bigger location and decides to have a Pajama Party. This gave some cyber friends to come so we could have a face to face and enjoy the night. It was a Great night for both cyber friends and locals to get together and learn about each other. There was LOTS of food and fun. By looking at the pictures I am sure you can figure out what the most comfortable seating is in the shop.

Since my last post I have been busy with the shop and will be moving into a bigger spot in the same building. This will give me room to expand which is something I have run out of:) I have also been working on some NEW designs for Crystal Palace, so watch their website for some new yarns and new patterns( http://www.straw.com/ ). Here are a few sneak peeks at some of the new patterns to come.

this is a new Panda Cotton color and woorks up well in a mosaic pattern. There is a new Man's sock pattern I am working on that will thrill even the hardest man to please. The new colorway is georgous and the design keeps the socks interesting to knit.

Another fun project using Iceland is the Fun and Funky Scarf I sent for TNNA in Califonia.

I am waiting on yarn from Malabrigo for a purse they saw and want the pattern for. So you can see I have been busy with the shop , designs and the Holidays. I hope you have fun knitting in the winter weather.

I finally caught up with Cathy H. who has spent the last 2 1/2 years trying to find the right palace to live. She is finally settled into the place of her dreams with the BEST roommate ever. I am glad to hear the smile in her voice and not the allergies and frustration that have been there for the last 2 1/2 years. She has found a clean safe place that feels like home and she can relax finally and be herself.
It;s about time she felt safe and at home. I was missing the Cathy I know and LOVE.

On another note the shop has been keeping me busy and the classes are filling fast. I hope I can keep up the pace and not let the pain get to me. Be sure to check out the new patterns that have been put up on Crystal Palaces web site and look for more new and exciting patterns to come.
I just got a box of goodies from Susan and can't wait to get started. they are talking to me and I know what every one of the projects is going to become. Now to try and get more hours in a day:)
Look for mor info on the Fall retreat for The Valley Fiber Arts Guild in Alaska Next September. I will be going up for a Family reunion in August and then staying over for a little R&R and then teaching at the reatreat . I am looking forward to meeting all of the wonderful people I met in the Spring and meeting new friends as well. More to come later wehn I know more.

They really let me play with the big toys today. About 10 minutes after cutting the ribbon for my shop I checked email and found out another one of my designs has been accepted by Art Yarns. I am so EXCITED to work with the wonderful yarns that Iris has:) this will be so much fun. I will post a picture of the project as I go so you can see the progress. I can't knit fast enough to get everything done before the yarn gets to me but I will try.

I am also working on designs for Crystal PAlace and almost heve a box full to send in. The other project I have going is for Cherry Tree Hill. I hope they like as I have fallen in love with this PAIR of socks and will have to make a PAIR for me!This is an unusual thing for me as I normally only do the one sock for the design and then am on to the next pattern. these make me want a PAIR and I am having a hard time knowing when I finish I will have twins and not freinds for sockss I wil have to celebrate.

Are they really going to hand ME a weapon that big??????LOL. the ribbon cutting for the shop was today and they really did let me use the giant scissors. This was alot of fun and I meet some new people and have a few more hooked on the shop and off the wall ideas:-)

Well the sho has been open a month. I am still on Pacific time so getting up in the morning is a challenge:( Getting lots of traffic and alot of great reactions. Already have had students for the classes and have several good customers who are also becoming great freinds. I am in a small mini mall and know a lot of the other shop owners and we all get along great so it makes the time go by fast.
I am working on a new sock design out of Cherry Tree Hill's NEW sockittome yarn and several new designs for Crystal Palace( would show you but then Susan wouldn't be suprised when she opens the box) HI Susan(waving with a mischeivous grin on my face)!

I hope everyone is having a GREAT summer and getting in some fun knitting projects as well. The New Shop

Here are the pictures that Cathy wants to see. this is the shop that I opened the two weeks after getting back from Idaho. Talk about a glutton for punishment. I had put opening on hold to go to Idaho and save the day when the other instructor bailed. I was so excited to get a chance to attend let alone teach at the Northwest Regional Spinners Association Retreat. They are a wonderful group of people and I encourage everyone who has a chance to attend go.

This is the sample wrister that was knit in the class I taught in Idaho. This is a twined wrister using Crystal Palace Taos Yarn. The best part of the adventure was the great freinds I made and everyone who took the class got the technique down perfect.

Pattern Corrections

I want to thank those who took the time to let me know there was a problem so I could make things right. I appreciate all who have tried the patterns and would love to see some of the finished items. My Trip

Here is a long overdue update. I took a trip to Anchorage Alaska to teach a class on dye your ow sock yarn and did a three day retreat the next weekend. What a beautiful setting we had and the weather was perfect. Everyone had so much fun and I can't wait to start getting pictures from some of the ladies that took the class of their finished socks.

My next stop on the trip was Centrailia Washington to see my Son and DIL . the day I arrived they found out they finally found a house and their bid was accepted . I got to go through the house while I was there , all I can say is WOW!!!!!!! It is a BEAUTIFUL house out in the country with a fabulous garage for my son, room for my DIL horse and room for the family they plan on having. They have great neighbors and I think they will love the new home they will make there.

the next and final stop was Richmond California. I went there to meet the wonderful people I have been designing for . The Crystal palace family welcomed me with open arms and hearts. I had a wonderful day with them and have some new ideas and will post pictures of some of the new designs you will be seeing on their web site soon.

I will try to keep posting with more frequency and adding more pictures every now and then so you can get an idea of my travels and my twissted design ideas!!!!!

New patterns and New Yarn

This is a new yarn by Crystal Palace that I test knit. It is called Bunny Hop. It is a micro fiber and angora blend. It feels wonderful as you are knitting it and has almost a velvet feel when it is done. I would highly reccomend this for a quick elegante project. The pattern is Quilted Luxury and will be up on the Crystal Palace web site soon.
This is another new yarn and pattern for Crystal Palace. This is Panda Cotton and is a blend of Bamboo, Cotton and elatic. This was a fun knit with a little different feel. the Bamboo has a slightly different feel to it but with the wonderful combination it not only feels good knitting but it also gives a wonderful fabaric when finished.Unlike other yarns with elastic added it slides smoothly on the needles and doesn't have the rubbery feeling of other yarns. This is a yarn that yelled at me when I saw it. With the Natural feel of the yarn and the color combination it was yelling I have to be fall leaves!So that is what it became:D this pattern will be up on the Crystal Palace Web site soon also. www.straw.com/cpy/gallery/sockgallery2.html this will take you to the most recent patterns and upcoming patterns for crystal palace socks! This is the November Sock of the Whenever group on Yahoo. It is a quick knit for the holidays. this is a very cushy slipper knit using pencil roving( unspun wool) It is made with the twined technique so it gives a double layer for extra warmth and cushioning. The slipper can be made larger than your foot and felted down to size. The color work is a textured pattern worked in the twining technique as well. This is a set of sock that are from my No Matter The Yarn- No Matter The Size Pattern. This shows how the same stitch count can make different size socks depending on the yarn and gauge you work.This shows Fingering, Sport and worsted weight ayrns all worked withthe same number of stitches and rows. The socks range from Infant to men's in this pattern that will also be in book #2. This is my Cotton With A Twist sock. It was knit using Patons Blu Jean cotton yarn that is dyed with Indigo for the Ribbing, Heel and Toe of the sock.
You can see the detail of the traveling stitches in the cuff better in the second picture and there are twisted stitches in the heel to give it added durability and a touch of class. These would be great with a pair of denim capri's to show off yor talent.

This pair of socks is the result of one of my dye your own sock yarn classes. We had a very adventerous group in this class as you can tell by the colors that were chosen. I will post pictures of a couple other socks from different dye classes so you can see the various choices you have when you do it yourself. This is fun to do and compare what everyone does in the class.

These are my rolling hills socks. This is one of my new patterns and the sample was knit using Sport weight Louet Gems Opal and Carol Desrochers of Ann Arbor Michigan. This pattern will be in the upcoming Freindly Sock Book #2 available at www.siriusknitting.com .I had fun with this design and the fact that you can use your leftovers for each stripe if you like or you can do opposite colorways for each sock as shown. This pattern is my Impossible Argyle that is knit with the Intarsia Method and has a Unique way of joining the back that is hard to detect unlike some of the other methods that are avalable.
These are my Elegant Cabled Knee highs. They consist of three different cables and a twist stitch center panel. The sample socks were knit by Pat Davis of Tecumseh, Michigan using Louet Gems pearl superwash merino yarn in fingering weight.This is an easy pattern to memorize after the first repeat is done. This will also be in Book #2.

I know i have beem remise in posting here. My life gets crazy when show season starts. I had a Dye Your own Self Striping sock yarn class. It was a Blast and everyones yarn was differnt. These classes are so much fun. you never knnow what your going to get from each student until the end.
Already starting on patterns for another book. The first book has been released and is available through www.siriusknitting.com . We have a yahoo group to go with the book so you can knit along with the designers and other sock addicts.
I will be going to Convergence next week and hope to have a blast. Hopefully I will get to meet some of my online friends and some of my suppliers are going to be there as well.
I am working on 3 new designs for upcoming kits for groups on Yahoo. If you would like to participate in those groups feel free to let me know and I will gladly hook you up for more knitting adventures.

Sorry its been awhile since eI have posted. As you can see by the pictures I have been busy. I finished a sweater ,start to finish. I also revised the purse pattern finished two more sock patterns and participated in the semi-annual Spinners Flock Fleece Fair in Chelsea, MI.
I am hoping to do more patterns soon with a new program that is on its way.
I have a few deadlines for design submissions coming fast so need to get to work again.

This is the sweater that I knit for russell(other half). I spun the yarn and knit the sweater in 1 1/2 weeks. The only reason it took that long is I had it half done and had to rip it out. The importance of measuring gauge correctly.

Pictures of a couple new designs that still need a little refinement. I have been busy with the shop and getting wool gathered up to have it processed for spinning. I have some wonderfully soft Alpaca blends and a couple pure Alpaca batches. I have a batch of 50/50 angora wool and 50/50 wool Mohair coming back in the next week. i am anxiously waiting to see how they come out. Getting things around to teach a class on Knitting a basic sock. The owner of the newest yarn shop in the area has asked me to teach the class. I love doing this as it is free advertising for my shop. I son't carry the same yarns as the other shops in the area and have a very loyal clientel and I also offer custon spinning and custom dying for my customers. I wish the new shop owner well but have my doubts whether she will last long as she is trying to make a go of it carrying the same yarn as the big chain stores in the area.

Warm and Wild YarnsI've been busy playing with 70 lbs. of roving I just got back from the mill. I have some OOOHHHHHHHHHH so soft Alpaca merino blens that is a very light natural tan(this is going to be my new Chemise for period shows), a light blue alpaca that spins very fine, a wonderful suprise was the white wool that almost went in the dumpster with some Llama that was scheduled for the same fate. This blend is one of the softest I have had from free fleece that wasn't in the best condition.I have a luscious light mint green 50/50 wool Alpaca blend that will be next to the skin items. The brown Merino fleece I sent up camae back to die for. It reminds me of homemade fudge, so soft and smooth. The grey green batch is not what I expected but is intriguing. Just enough green to give a hint but not enough to see the color. Two batches of white 50/50 wool Alpaca to play with for next to skin garments.
I have also been busy designing more socks and purses. I spun enough yarn to design and knit a sweater for my significant other in a size 6x. My Math was off and I didn't discover it until I had 22 inches done on the body. After a visit to the Frog Pond I am 15 inches into the body and IT FIT HIM. so maybe I won't feel like I wasted 2 days of knitting on the first one if this keeps going so fast. I figure at this rate I should have the sweater done by Friday at the latest.
I will be posting pictures when I get a chance. If things work out like I hope I will be changing a few of the past posts soon.

I know its been awhile since I posted. had a busy holiday season and am getting back to work. I am working out a couple new designs for the future and test knitting a couple patterns for a friend. I hope to have these done in the next week and hopefully get a couple days of SUNSHINE to get some good pictures. Trying to get Inventory done in the shop and ideas on paper before I loose the ideas.
